John has been a professional photographer for over 35 years. Over that span of time John has served clients in many US states and Europe. John’s professional career begin in 1981 when he and his brother Joe founded J. Grogan Photography in Winston-Salem, NC. Their work mostly commercial photography centered around food/beverage, real estate, construction and aerial imaging and other areas as well. John and Joe also have experience in college and professional sports of all kinds.

John has been published numerous times, taught photography at East Carolina University, Wake Forest University, Forsyth Technical College and workshops at various locations.

John moved to Boone, NC in 2002 to continue his professional career and to spend more time developing his nature and outdoor photography. In 2007, John moved his photography business to the Greater Atlanta area, where is lives today with his wife Denise.

Not long after arriving in Georgia, John combined his business with Ben Fralick and together formed Grogan & Fralick, a commercial photography firm. After Ben’s untimely passing in 2017, John returned to his roots and reformed John Grogan Photography. Where is still offers Commercial Photography and has added Family Photography.

John's has two projects underway, the first one is a book highlighting Southern Train Depots. The second is another book highlighting images from Northern Scotland, centered around Mackay Country, part of John's Scottish heritage.
