LINVILLE, NC - The 67th Grandfather Mountain Highland Games & Clan Gathering was held this past weekend near Linville North Carolina in Northwest North Carolina. Representatives from roughly 106 Scottish clans as far away as Australia.
The Mackays had a great turnout with many returning members and as many looking for family information, researching Scottish heritage and many new members.
We had our annual dinner on the meadow with about 30 members present for the meal. We have been having this Saturday night meal for over 25 years in some capacity, starting with restaurants and most recently on the games field at the clan tent.
It was so good to be back together. Good to see old friends, good to meet new friends and good to see friends that are like family.
Next year because 2020 was cancelled, Clan Mackay will celebrate our 50th year participating in these Scottish games. Clan Mackay was founded on this meadow in 1971 and again in 1982. I hope, if you have been wanting to come to this event, set your calendar for July 7-10. See you here.
