You can reasonably go for years thinking your the best photographer on earth, staying isolated from any opinion. The real test of your work is to put yourself out there, getting feedback from your peers. So as you develop your style, and you should never stop honing your craft, always compare your work to others 'doing your style' and see what is working for them. Enter contest, photo calls for work, to get the opinion of the judges. I have been shooting for nearly 40+ years and I still seek the opinion of others that I feel are better than me. No one will ever know you and your work until you get out there.
